Former ELECTRIC EARTH Drummer Explains His Departure
October 25, 2006Founding member/drummer Lars Berger of the Swedish hard rock band ELECTRIC EARTH has issued the following statement explaining his decision to leave the group:
"I've decided to quit the wonderful job of being the drummer for ELECTRIC EARTH. It is, of course, a decision that has not come suddenly but has matured over some time. Musical differences, although we've had them, has nothing to do with it. Personal differences neither, although we've had them too. The way I see it is, those are just bonus aspects really, creating forward motion. It's all a question of time, or really, the lack of it.
"I have a parallel career besides drumming that is writing. I write children's books. This is something that I want to pursue even further, and that is where the time aspect comes in. It is no longer possible for me to have the day job, the family and two creative outlets.
"For 10 years now, developing the musical force has been my top creative priority. First with GOOSEFLESH (releasing the 'Welcome To Suffer Age' EP and the full length album 'Chemical Garden') and now with ELECTRIC EARTH (the full-length releases 'Organic Songs' and the coming 'Words Unspoken').
"It has been great following the creative muse together with Tom, Pete and Mike. We have been working hard and in doing so achieving the goal of creating some really fine music.
"For some time ahead now, writing will be my top creative priority. I will give it the same work and devotion that EE has been given and has deserved.
"I will not stop playing my dear old Fibes, that would be impossible, it just won’t be under the ELECTRIC EARTH banner."
ELECTRIC EARTH, from Trollhättan, Sweden, released its debut album, "Organic Songs - Volume One", in 2004 through Phantom Music.
